Your new Co-op is coming
to Bridge of Allan

The Co-op in Bridge of Allan has served the community well for many years, however it’s an old building at the end of its useful life. Kingsmead Developments, in partnership with the Co-op, are delighted to be bringing forward the redevelopment of the property which will involve the demolition of the existing building and construction of a new purpose-built store with parking.

Project

Lenzie-based Fleming Build have been appointed as main contractor and will deliver the project with care and consideration. The works will require the closure of the car park for the duration of the contract which will inevitably cause inconvenience to the local community. We will do our utmost to minimise disruption and to complete the development on time and to a high standard.

Timescales

The existing Co-op store is scheduled to close on Saturday 9th August following which a temporary store will be erected on part of the site while the main works are being carried out. It is anticipated that the works will take approximately 9 months to complete, ready for the Co-op to fit out. Completion is scheduled for May 2026 with the new store opening in July 2026.

Update

20/10/25 Drainage and piling works have now been completed. Ground beams will now be constructed ready for the erection of the steelwork.

19/10/25 The Co-op temporary store is now open for trade.

12/9/25 Due to an unforeseen technical problem with the proposed drainage connection to Keir St, the connection now requires to be made on Fountain Rd, adjoining the car park entry point. A road permit has been obtained to allow works to commence on 26th September which unfortunately will require the road to be closed off for approximately 2 weeks.

8/9/25 The Coop temporary store cabins are arriving on site Tuesday 9th. These require to be craned onto site from Keir St which will involve a short term road closure.

3/9/25 Strip out of the store is now completed and demolition is underway. The contaminated material around the old fuel tanks has been removed and backfilled ready for the piling works to commence.

14/8/25 The Co-op store and car park has now closed and the Co-op is being stripped out ready for demolition. Works have commenced on the preparatory stage for the new temporary store with service diversions and utilities being the main focus. This involves the installation of a new manhole on Keir St adjacent to the car park exit. Keir St is currently closed to allow these works to be completed. Unfortunately an issue has cropped up with the installation and this will lead to the street being closed for 2 weeks. We apologise to everyone inconvenienced by this and will have the street back open as quickly as possible.

28/7/25 Keir Street will be closed off for a few days as of Monday 11th August to allow the construction of a manhole close to the current car park exit. BT Openreach will be carrying out trenching work to the pavement week commencing 26th.

28/7/25 The enabling works for the temporary store will commence on Monday 11th August with access for the works being taken from Fountain Road.

28/7/25 The Coop store and car park will close on Saturday 9th August. All vehicles should be removed from the car park by 10.30pm to allow commencement of the works.

25/7/25 Fleming Build have been appointed as main contractor with works commencing 11th August 2025.
